Henley Business School Hosts Book Launch and Leaders’ Clinic for Dr Reuel Khoza’s Essential Reflections
A morning dedicated to leadership, conscience, and connection
Henley Business School - Africa hosted a morning of deep reflection and dialogue as it launched Dr Reuel Jethro Mbhayimbhayi Khoza’s latest book, Essential Reflections. The event, held on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, took place at the Henley Africa Campus in Paulshof, Johannesburg.
Themed “From Reflection to Action”, the Leadership Breakfast and Leaders’ Clinic brought together executives, academics, and thought leaders to explore what it means to lead with conscience in today’s rapidly evolving business and social environment.

Distinguished speakers and purposeful conversation
The event featured an insightful line-up of speakers - Dr Reuel Khoza, Prof Bernd Vogel, Ms Lynette Chen, and Mr Monde Lot Ndlovu (MBA, PD SA) - each offering a distinct perspective on leadership challenges drawn from their respective industries and disciplines.
Their dialogue centred on the moral and practical dimensions of leadership, examining how integrity, courage, and moral conviction can guide those in positions of influence. The discussions moved beyond theory into real-world reflection, encouraging attendees to bridge self-awareness with ethical action.

Guided by thoughtful facilitation
Serving as facilitator for the morning was Felicity Dire, Founder and Principal Editor of Joy Quill Afrika. Through her engaging moderation, she created an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity that encouraged open participation and connection. Her role helped shape the event into a genuine exchange of ideas rather than a formal ceremony, embodying the spirit of the book itself.
A message of courage and conscience
In his reflections, Henley Business School Dean Jon Foster-Pedley captured the essence of the event, stating that “True leadership requires courage - the willingness to step forward, to stand firm, and to act with integrity even when it costs us contracts, contacts, or comfort.”
His words echoed throughout the morning’s discussions, reinforcing the idea that ethical and reflective leadership can often be a lonely path, yet it remains the only route to authentic success.

From reflection to action
As the event drew to a close, Essential Reflections emerged as more than a publication. It became a symbol of mindful leadership - a call to align personal values with professional purpose. The book and the conversations it inspired reaffirm Dr Khoza’s lifelong dedication to values-based leadership, rooted in wisdom, self-knowledge, and a commitment to the greater good.
Through the collaboration between Henley Business School and Joy Quill Afrika, the launch successfully bridged thought and action, demonstrating that reflection is not the end of leadership - it is its beginning.
From Reflection to Action
Inspired by the conversations at Henley Business School, Essential Reflections invites every reader to engage in a personal journey of ethical and purposeful leadership.
